2019-20 Regular Season Pregame: Game 1 LA Kings Vs Edmonton Oilers

Good Evening Hockey Fans! Welcome to the start of the 2019-20 NHL regular season. The Kings season starts on the road as the team heads up to western Canada to take on the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, and Vancouver Canucks before the team heads home first home game of the season.

Here’s tonight’s pregame report

A few new players will be joining the Kings to start the season, defensemen Tobias Bojrnfot, Joakim Ryan, Ben Hutton and forward Blake Lizotte. Hutton, and Ryan are seasoned NHL veterans and are hoping to bolster the Kings depth when it comes to defense. Bojrnfot was selected by the Kings in the 1st round 22nd overall by the team this past season he is playing in place of defenseman Derek Forbort who is injuries with a back injury he sustained last season. Here's what Kings defenseman Drew Doughty said about Bojrnfot "“I’m not trying to give him too, too much. Just trying to keep him positive and remind him of all the little things. If things go wrong on the ice, tell him what we should’ve done better or what I thought we should’ve done better. If things go right, remind him of why they went right and what they did well".

The Oilers finished their first game of the season a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks. Forward Conor McDavid had an spectacular goal in the game which was the game winning goal for the Oilers in that game. Defenseman Adam Larsson suffered a fractured right fibula and will be out 6-8 weeks after blocking a shot from Vancouver Canucks forward Quinn Hughes in the first period of that game. Edmonton called up Joel Persson to take his place and forward Riley Sheahan is out with a concussion Persson will make his NHL debut tonight.
