2019-20 Regular Season Game 2 LA Kings Vs Calgary Flames

1st period analysis
Kings start the game out with a quick attack only 25 seconds into the game but did not score but still get some good shots on goal. The Kings had the puck in their own zone a lot in the opening minutes of the game. Adrian Kempe gets a nice shot on goal from the left faceoff dot only 1:51 in the period. Kings have a good forecheck and that set up a good shot for Tyler Toffoli in the slot. Drew Doughty skated down the right side after a nice pass from Ilya Kolvalcuk and Doughty fired a shot which was saved and then Kovalcuk batted for the puck and fed a pass Tyler Toffoli as he ripped home a shot into the top left corner to give the Kings an early 1st period lead. The Kings were owning a lot of the zone time throughout the first period. The Kings are putting tons of pressure into the offensive zone. The Kings are having good defensive pressure in the neutral zone and forcing the Flames back into their own zone. Dustin Brown took a hard backhand shot on goal. The Kings have been having constant pressure in the Flames zone which is making Calgary play on their heels. Ben Hutton took a puck to the chin and went back to the dressing room to get the cut on his chin stitched up. The Kings fourth line has been playing good throughout the first period. The Flames haven’t had any pressure in the offensive zone throughout the period. The Kings have iced the puck a lot this period. Both teams have a minor scrap as Brady Tkachuck checked Drew Doughty which started it, and after the play was stopped Kurtis MacDermid gets a penalty for Roughing. Blake Lizotte had a good shot as the Kings had a nice counterattack up the ice. The Kings kill off their first penalty of the night despite the Flames getting some good looks but did not manage to land a shot on goal during the whole powerplay. Alec Martinez rang a shot right of the left goalpost and was so close to making in a 2 goal lead. Sean Walker took a tight angle shot and snuck the puck right past the Flames goaltender David Rittich to make it a 2 goal lead. Blake Lizotte gets his first NHL career point. The Kings held Calgary to only three shots on goal in the period. 

1st period 
At 2:53 the Kings made it a 1-0 game. The goal was scored by number 73 Tyler Toffoli, the goal was his (1st of the game and season). Then at 17:26 the Kings scored again to make it 2-0. The goal was scored by number 26 Sean Walker, the goal was his (1st goal of the game and season).

2nd period analysis
Calgary gets a good attack into the first few seconds of the period The Kings take a penalty 44 seconds into the period. The Kings successfully killed off another power play. Ilya Kolvalcuk started a breakout from the Kings zone and then the Kings had a good rush into the offensive zone as Adrian Kempe’s shot was batted out of midair by Kolvalcuk and in the net for the Kings to make it a 3 goal game. The Kings have continued the constant pressure in the Calgary zone throughout both periods of play so far. Milan Lucic and Kurtis MacDermid had the first fight of the season for the Kings. The Kings have been cycling the puck in the offensive zone. The Kings give the puck away in their own zone after blocking a few shots, as Matthew Tkachuk fired a shot home to end the Kings shutout streak in tonight’s game. The Flames tied the game as Noah Hanifin tapped home the puck as Jack Campbell lost the puck in his skates and it is now a 3-2 Kings lead. Calgary has gotten momentum off score those two goals. The Kings get a great counterattack as Tyler Toffoli drove hard to the net which lead to a scramble at the goal line and the Kings could not find the back of the net. Both teams near the end of the period both got good quality chances on goal. 

2nd period

At 3:46 the Kings made it 3-0. The goal was scored by number 17 Ilya Kolvalcuk, the goal was his (1st of the game and season). Then at 10:51 the Flames scored to make it a 1-3 game, the goal was scored by number 19 Matthew Tkachuk, the goal was his (1st of the game and season). Then at 13:33 the Flames made it 2-3. The goal was scored by number 55 Noah Hanifin, the goal was his (1st of the game and season).

2nd period

3rd period analysis
The Kings were having lots of pressure early on in the period. Kings get an early power play and the first of the game for them. The Kings can not connect on the power play, the Kings have had some good shots early in the period. Drew Doughty and Milan Lucic we’re going at each other when Lucic had the puck in the right  corner of the Kings end of the ice. Kings had a good attack down the right side but could not get a shot on net. Matt Roy has been blocking shots all night and has helped the team out a lot defensively. Calgary was putting on the pressure midway through the period. Jack Campbell makes a really good glove save on Rasmus Andersson. The Flames are getting more chances in the offensive zone. The Kings have been keeping the puck in the Calgary zone to kill time off the clock. The Flames tie the game late in the third as Matthew Tkachuk scores as he put it on his stick and scored to tie it. Kings get a power play in the final seconds of regulation. The game will go into overtime. 

3rd period
At 18:56 in the 3rd period the Flames scored to tie the game at 3-3. The goal was scored by number by number 19 Matthew Tkachuk, the goal was his (2nd of the game and season).

3rd period
