2019-20 Regular Season Postgame: Game 1 LA Kings Vs Edmonton Oilers

The first game of the new season did not favor the Kings as they lose to the Oilers 6-5 in a high scoring close game. The Kings played a good overall game despite giving up a very late goal via a rebound off Jonathan Quick’s left pad. The Kings managed to not take a lot of pe stiles which in the past has cost them games. The Kings will travel to Calgary, Alberta as they take on the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night.

Kings record after the game
(0-1-0)

Oilers record after the game
(2-0-0)

Here a quote from Kings head coach Todd McLellan about his first game with the Kings and about how back and forth the game was.

First of all, we didn’t want to get into a track meet with that team, and it kind of ended up that way. A lot of strange goals tonight. We scored some oddball goals that we’ll happily take. We gave up some ones that we could play another 10 or 15 games and we may not see them again, and is that preseason, eight-days-off rust carry over? I don’t know, but I know we have to clean it up”.
