2019-20 Regular Season Pregame: Game 2 LA Kings Vs Calgary Flames

Good Evening Hockey Fans! Tonight your LA Kings start their first back to back series of this season  as they take on the Calgary Flames. The start time for the game will be a 6:00 PM PST and 7:00 PM MST. You can catch the game on Fox Sports West or streaming on the Fox Sports Go app in the Los Angeles/Orange County area with Alex Faust and Jim Fox providing the call or on Sportsnet in Canada, or listen to it on the Kings IHeartRadio Network with Nick Nickson and Daryl Evans.

The Kings played their first game last Saturday night as they took on the Edmonton Oilers and lost 6-5. The Kings are still looking for their first win of the new season. Kings defenseman Drew Doughty and Flames defenseman Matthew Takchuk have heated rivalry between the two. In practice the Kings have been paring Sean Walker and Ben Hutton together which makes a really good line combination as a third defensive paring.

The Flames are coming off a 3-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks this past Saturday night, former King forward Millan Lucic is playing his first game in the Kings-Flames rivalry and here’s what he had to say about being part of the rivalry, “It’s always good that I had such good relationships with
people in LA, especially that I was only there for one year. It was a great year for me personally, and I’m still in touch with a lot of people within that organization. But I’ve always said, once you hit the ice and the puck drops, you forget about those personal relationships and you play to win. So that’s the mindset as far as that goes when the game starts”.

2019-20 Regular Season Postgame: Game 1 LA Kings Vs Edmonton Oilers

The first game of the new season did not favor the Kings as they lose to the Oilers 6-5 in a high scoring close game. The Kings played a good overall game despite giving up a very late goal via a rebound off Jonathan Quick’s left pad. The Kings managed to not take a lot of pe stiles which in the past has cost them games. The Kings will travel to Calgary, Alberta as they take on the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night.

Oilers record after the game

Here a quote from Kings head coach Todd McLellan about his first game with the Kings and about how back and forth the game was.

“First of all, we didn’t want to get into a track meet with that team, and it kind of ended up that way. A lot of strange goals tonight. We scored some oddball goals that we’ll happily take. We gave up some ones that we could play another 10 or 15 games and we may not see them again, and is that preseason, eight-days-off rust carry over? I don’t know, but I know we have to clean it up”.
