2023-24 Regular Season Game 21 LA Kings At Columbus Blue Jackets

1st Period Analysis: The Kings gave up a goal early as the Blue Jackets scored on the powerplay. The Kings managed to have more offensive zone time as the period went on. The Kings had a power play late in the period and had multiple chances to tie the game but could not get anything on the power play. The Blue Jackets had multiple scoring chances from the high danger area and took a 1-0 lead into the 1st intermission.

2nd Period Analysis: Early on the Kings had some chances in the period but could not find a way to tie the game. The Blue Jackets capitalized off of a turnover as Johnny Gauderau fired a shot to the top right corner to make it a 2-0 lead. Halfway through the period the momentum shifted as Columbus gained more time in the offensive zone. The Kings had their second powerplay of the game, Adrian Kempe had a great one time shot, but just put it off target and wide. The Kings could not convert on their second powerplay of the game. The Kings have had a lot of cross ice passes that have been easily intercepted by Columbus that has led to odd man rushes by the Blue Jackets. Columbus made it a 3-0 off a loose puck as Matthieu Olivier jumped on the puck right in front of the net for the goal. The Blue Jackets out played the Kings throughout the period, as the Kings were boxed out in front of the net to try to get screens or deflections.
