2023-24 Regular Season Pregame Game 30 San Jose Sharks Vs LA Kings

Good Evening Hockey Fans! Your Los Angeles Kings finish off a three game homestand as they take on the San Jose Sharks.

The Kings head into tonight’s game after a dominating win over the Calgary Flames before the short Christmas break.

Pregame Notes: Kings defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov will return to the lineup after being on the injured reserve since December 9th. Kings goaltender David Rittich will start tonight against San Jose.

2023-24 Regular Season Game 28 Seattle Kraken Vs LA Kings

1st Period Analysis: The Kings first line had some really good looks in the first five minutes of the period and keeping the pressure and created more offensive zone time. The Kraken came back with some rushes of their own but both teams also had some good shots on target. The Kraken continued to get more zone time in the offensive zone, but the Kings played really good defensively to deny the Kraken. The Kings first line of Kopitar-Byfield-Kempe continued to move the puck well in the offensive zone and get more pressure in the offensive zone with about halfway through the period. The Kings had a two on one breakaway in the final minute but hit the post and the first period ended with no goals being scored or penalties called.

2nd Period Analysis: Both teams took penalties early on in the period, and the Kings continued to apply more pressure in the offensive zone early on in the period. The Kraken struck first as forward Brandon Tanev fired a shot from close range to make it a 1-0 lead for Seattle. Seattle continued the pressure in the offensive zone by getting more shots from the slot, The Kings got their first powerplay of the game midway through the period but could not convert. Both teams traded chances towards the end of the period and the Kraken had their first powerplay of the game but couldn’t get a goal on the man advantage. Kraken took a 1-0 lead into the 2nd intermission.

2nd Period Goals: Kraken goal scored by number 13 Branden Tanev (1st of the game and 3rd of the season), the goal was unassisted. Time of the goal 5:19.

3rd Period Analysis: Both teams had some chances early but couldn’t get anything going, six minutes into the period Jordan Eberle caught a great stretch pass from Will Bogren and buried the puck to the top right corner to make it a 2-0 Kraken lead. The Kings took another penalty in the period as Seattle earned their third powerplay of the game. The Kings got a short handed goal off of a bad bounce in the offensive zone which led to Blake Lizotte burning home a goal to make it a 1-2 game. Lizotte also earned his 100th NHL point with the goal. The Kings got a powerplay late in the game after a Boarding penalty called on Seattle’s Justin Schultz. The Kings powerplay was unsuccessful and did not have a shot on goal as well. The Kings had some good zone time late in the period with lots of chances but couldn’t get the puck in the net. The Kings got a powerplay with under 2 minutes left in the period to try and tie the game up. The Kings could not get a goal on the powerplay but still had chances with the goaltender pulled. Seattle held on to win the game 2-1.

Good Evening Hockey Fans! Your Los Angeles Kings are back home for a three game homestand as they take on the Seattle Kraken. The two teams recently met this past Saturday as the Kings beat the Kraken by a score of 3-2.

Seattle enters tonight's matchup without forwards Pierre Edouard-Bellemare and Jared McCann who were injured in the Kraken’s last game against the Dallas Stars.

2023-24 Regular Season Pregame 27 LA Kings At San Jose Sharks

Good Evening Hockey Fans! Your Los Angeles Kings head up the coast to battle the San Jose Sharks. This is the final game of the two game road trip for the Kings.

The Kings head into tonight’s game after an exhilarating win against the Seattle Kraken, as they beat Seattle in a 9 round shootout to win the game.

Kings goaltender David Rittich will make his Kings debut tonight in San Jose, Rittich previously has played for Nashville and Calgary.

Tonight’s game is at 7:30 PST from SAP Center at San Jose in San Jose, California. Tonight’s game will be available to watch and stream on ESPN+ and Hulu.

2023-24 Regular Season Game 26 LA Kings At Seattle Kraken

1st Period Analysis: The Kraken scored early on to make it a 1-0 game. The Kings were able to get some chances midway through the period, but the Kraken continued to sustain pressure in the offensive zone. The Kings managed to tie the game up as Phillip Danault tapped the puck between his own legs and passed it to Trever Moore and Moore cut past the Kraken defense and dangle past the goaltender and put it in the back of the net. Both teams traded chances in tiges with about 6 minutes left in the play. The Kings had more offensive zone time and the Kraken took a penalty late into the period. The Kings got their first power play of the game but could not convert on it. Both teams head into the first intermission tied at 1-1.

1st Period Goals: Kraken goal scored by number 6 Adam Larsson (1st of the game and 2 of the season), assisted by number 94 Devin Shore and number 29 Vince Dunn. Time of the goal 6;45. Kings goal scored by number 12 Trevor Moore (1st of the game and 14th of the season), assisted by number 24 Phillip Danault and number 22 Kevin Fiala. Time of the goal 13:32.

1st Period Penalties: Kraken penalty to number 41 Pierre Edouard-Bellemare 2 minute minor for Tripping at 16:45.

2nd Period Analysis: The Kings managed to get more chances in the offensive zone early on and get some good shots on target. The Kings also through the first five minutes of the period did not allow the Kraken to advance into the offensive zone and get good opportunities on net. The Kings had their second powerplay opportunity of the game with 12 minutes left in the period as Seattle defenseman Ryker Evans took an interference pentaku near the near wall. The Kraken were able to get in the shooting lanes on the Kings powerplay. Seattle had a few odd man rushes but couldn't find the net but managed to allow Kings defenseman Jordan Spence to trip a Kraken player and earn Seattle their first powerplay of the game. The Kraken were able to get some good chances but could not get a goal on their powerplay opportunity. Both teams have good shots on target throughout the period. Towards the end of the period the Kraken managed to get more chances on net. Mikey Anderson had a huge hit behind the play on Will Borgen which led to a pileup of players from both teams near the benches. The Kings managed to get a powerplay due to Borgen roughing Anderson after the previous scrum. Anze Kopitar caught a great pass from Quinton Byfieid and Kopitar was right near the far side of the net to tap in the goal on the power play for the Kings. The Kings took a one goal lead heading into the second intermission.

2nd Period Goals: Kings goal scored on the powerplay by number 11 Anze Kopitar (1st of the game and 12th of the season), assisted by number 55 Quinton Byfield and number 9 Adrian Kempe. Time of the goal 17:16.

2nd Period Penalties: Kraken penalty to number 39 Ryker Evans 2 minute minor for Interference at 7:21. Kings penalty to number 21 Jordan Spence 2 minute minor for Tripping at 9:27. Kraken penalty to number 3 Will Borgen 2 minute minor for Roughing at 16:13.

3rd Period Analysis: The Kings controlled more zone time throughout the first few minutes of the period. The Kings have also been out shooting Seattle throughout the night. The Kings also were playing extremely good on the defensive end and not allowing the Kraken to get any chances to get into the offensive zone midway through the period. The Kraken managed multiple chances throughout the last half of the third period but could not really get any good looks at the net when they had the puck in the offensive zone. Mikey Anderson cleared the puck over the glass from the Kings own zone and was penalized for a delay of a penalty which resulted in a late powerplay for the Kraken. Can Talbot made a great save on the Kraken as it was a scramble near the Kings net. Kraken forward Oliver Bjorkstrand fired a shot from the top to tie the game late in the period. Regulation ended tied so the game had to be decided in overtime.

2023-24 Regular Season Pregame 26 LA Kings At Seattle Kraken

Good Evening Hockey Fans! Your Los Angeles Kings face off tonight against the Seattle Kraken as the team starts a two game road trip. The Kings head into tonight's game coming off a rough loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night.

Some notable stats for the Kings. Kings goaltender Phoenix Copley did not travel with the team as he sustained an injury. David Rittich was called up to the Kings from Ontario to replace Copley.

Tonight will be the first meeting of the season between the two sides.

2023-24 Regular Season Game 25 Winnipeg Jets Vs LA Kings

1st Period Analysis: Early on in the game the Kings had some good quality chances from the high danger area but couldn't find the back of the net. The Kings controlled the puck in the offensive zone and sustained some pressure in the zone. The Kings got a powerplay midway through the period and the Kings converted on the first powerplay of the game and the Kings took a 1-0 lead. The Kings continued the pressure in the offensive zone as chances continued to open up. Alex Laferriere banked in a tight shot from the far side of the boards to make it a 2-0 game. The Kings kept the puck in the Jets zone for most of the period and took a 2-0 into the first intermission.

2nd Period Analysis: The Kings started the period down a man due to the Kings taking a penalty late in the first period. The Kings managed to kill off the penalty. The Kings regained the man advantage as they went back on the powerplay. The Kings had a few chances on the powerplay but couldn't go 2 for 2 on the powerplay. The Jets took advantage of a turnover by the Kings in the Winnipeg zone and the Jets had a 3 on 2 and made it a 1-2 game as Nikolaj Ehlers scored top corner. Midway through the period the Jets controlled the pressure in the offensive zone and gained more zone time. Nikolaj Ehlers came in flying down the near side wall and he buried his second goal of the game and he rang this one off the post and in. The Jets scored again a minute later and the Jets have taken over the game in period as they have worn down the Kings with lots of pressure in the offensive zone. The Kings got a powerplay late in the period and had some good chances and good puck movement but couldn't get anything going on the teams third powerplay of the game. The Kings took a penalty late in the period and went into the third down by a goal.

2023-24 Regular Season Pregame 25 Winnipeg Jets Vs LA Kings

Good Afternoon Kings Fans! Welcome to tonight’s Western Conference matchup as the Winnipeg Jets are in town to take on your Los Angeles Kings.

The Kings come back home after a four game Eastern Conference road trip which saw the team break an NHL record for most wins on the road to start the season. Tonight's game will also be the return back to Los Angeles for former Kings Alex Iafallo, Rasmus Kupari, and Gabriel Vilardi who were traded to Winnipeg this past offseason for Pierre-Luc Dubois.

Some Pregame notes for the Kings is that defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov is out week-to-week after suffering a lower body injury against the New York Islanders on the team's second to final game on the road trip on Saturday.

Jacob Moverare will make his season debut for the Kings as he was recalled from Ontario today due to Gavrikov’s injury. Moverare has played a total of 21 games throughout his NHL career, he played 16 games for the Reign this season and has had a total of five assists. 

The Jets will be without forward Kyle Connor as he was put on the injury reserve today.

2023-24 NHL Regular Season Game 22 LA Kings At Montréal Canadiens

1st Period Analysis: only 41 seconds into the game Kevin Fiala took a hooking penalty along the far boards. The Kings managed to kill off the penalty. Canadiens have had a good couple of attacks and lots of offensive zone time early on. Halfway through the period the Kings got some momentum and had more breakout opportunities. Drew Doughty went coast to coast and stuffed home the puck on a 2 on 1 break to make it a 1-0 game. The Candiens have had more chances but Kings goaltender Cam Talbot made solid saves to keep it a 1-0 Kings lead. The Kings have also played really smart defensively as they managed to force the Canadiens to shoot from the slot, and have forced Montréal to create turnovers in the offensive zone. Late in the period the Kings took their second penalty of the game as Drew Doughty was called for boarding. The Candiens had a lot of opportunities and chances on the powerplay but once again the Kings defense stepped up to deny them of a powerplay goal.  Quinton Byfield collected a pass from the middle of the ice from Adrian Kempe as Byfield drove hard to the net and tucked it past the Canadiens netminder to make it a 2-0 game late in the period.

2nd Period Analysis: The Canadiens came out flying as they have managed to get a lot of zone time early on in the period. Midway through the period the Kings got some more chances in the offensive zone and a same scuffle occured after a Kings player shot the puck after the play was over. Moments after the scuffle Kings forward Phillip Danault took the Kings third penalty of the game. Montréal continued to apply the pressure on the powerplay but could not convert on their third of the game. The Kings continued to keep the puck in the offensive zone and get some more zone time throughout the halfway mark of the period. The King got their first powerplay chance of the game with the final few minutes of the period. Quinton Byfield grabbed his 2nd goal of the night on a great feed from Anze Kopitar near the back of the goal as the Kings converted on the powerplay to take a 3-0 lead into the third period.

2023-24 Regular Season Game 21 LA Kings At Columbus Blue Jackets

1st Period Analysis: The Kings gave up a goal early as the Blue Jackets scored on the powerplay. The Kings managed to have more offensive zone time as the period went on. The Kings had a power play late in the period and had multiple chances to tie the game but could not get anything on the power play. The Blue Jackets had multiple scoring chances from the high danger area and took a 1-0 lead into the 1st intermission.

2nd Period Analysis: Early on the Kings had some chances in the period but could not find a way to tie the game. The Blue Jackets capitalized off of a turnover as Johnny Gauderau fired a shot to the top right corner to make it a 2-0 lead. Halfway through the period the momentum shifted as Columbus gained more time in the offensive zone. The Kings had their second powerplay of the game, Adrian Kempe had a great one time shot, but just put it off target and wide. The Kings could not convert on their second powerplay of the game. The Kings have had a lot of cross ice passes that have been easily intercepted by Columbus that has led to odd man rushes by the Blue Jackets. Columbus made it a 3-0 off a loose puck as Matthieu Olivier jumped on the puck right in front of the net for the goal. The Blue Jackets out played the Kings throughout the period, as the Kings were boxed out in front of the net to try to get screens or deflections.
