2020-21 Regular Season Game 13 San Jose Sharks Vs LA Kings

1st Period Analysis: The Kings start out the game strong as they get a power play early on in the period, Anze Kopitar fired a rocket from the left circle and scored to make it a 0-1 game. With the goal Kopitar has scored three goals in the past two games. Just three minutes into the period both teams had a man sent to the box to play four on four as Sharks forward Timo Meier and Kings forward Adrian Kempe got called for unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. Both teams have managed to get some good chances on net early on in the period. The Sharks get some pressure on the offensive zone and get some decent chances. The Kings create a turnover in the offensive zone as defenseman Austin Strand made a great hard pass to forward Jaret Anderson-Dolan ripped a hard shot on net which was tipped by Carl Grundstrom to make it a 0-2 lead for the Kings. The Kings take a penalty and manage to survive the penalty by playing some great defense and then forward Austin Wagner who took the penalty jumped out of the penalty box, walked into the Sharks zone and made a nice deke and scored on his backhand to give the Kings a 0-3 lead. The Sharks had a good breakout into the offensive zone and Tomas Hertl got a good shot on net and scored to make it a 1-3 game. The Kings head into the 2nd period with a two goal lead.

2nd Period Analysis: The Kings continue to get good chances and put some pressure in the offensive zone early on in the period. The third and fourth lines for the Kings have done a great job in the offensive zone. The Kings get another powerplay early on in the period about midway through. The Kings get some great chances but could not get another goal on the powerplay. Both teams take penalties late in the period for the second time tonight, both teams will skate four on four. The Sharks get a goal late on the powerplay as Tomas Hertl gets his second of the game to make it a 2-3 game, Both teams get decent chances on goal towards the end of the period.

3rd Period Analysis: The Kings start the third period by getting some great chances on net and keeping the puck in the offensive zone. The Kings fourth line strikes again as Trevor Moore finds Jaret Anderson-Dolan as he gets his second goal of his career and the Kings lead again by two goals tonight. The Kings get a powerplay and capitalize on it as Alex Iafallo scores as the Kings make it a 2-5 game. The Kings will also get another powerplay due to the Sharks taking a penalty. The Sharks challenged the goal for goalie Interference. And the Sharks get another penalty so the Kings will get five on three for a total time of four minutes. The Kings get another goal to make it 2-6. The Kings scored three goals in a span of 2 minutes and 5 seconds. The Kings could not get a goal in the second half of the powerplay. The Kings played good defense as the Sharks had some good chances on net and Cal Peterson made some good saves as well. The Sharks swapped goalies as Marin Jones came out and Alexi Melnichuk. The Sharks continued to get some shots and pressure into the offensive zone. The Kings get a huge win tonight as they will have a weekend off due to the next opponent the Minnesota Wild having players testing positive for COVID-19
