2020-21 Regular Season Game 11 Los Angeles Kings Vs Vegas Golden Knights

1st Period Analysis: The Kings come out flying as they get a three in two breakout and Anze Kopitar rips a shot home on the Kings first shot of the game to give them an early 1-0 lead. The Kings are doing a good job at getting the pucks down low into the Vegas zone. The Kings have gotten more pressure early on in the period. Vegas forward Reilly Smith skated down the left wing a fired a shot top corner to tie the game up at 1-1. The Kings got some good chances and Adrian Kempe took a shot that deflected off Vegas player’s stick and just had enough room to get past Vegas goaltender Robin Lenher to give the Kings a 2-1. The Kings lead did not last for long as 22 seconds later the Golden Knights scored as the Kings had a bad turnover in their own end as Zach Whitecloud buried the puck home. Vegas forward Mark Stone chipped the puck from the far side boards to Chandler Stephenson skated past two Kings defenders to have a breakaway and he shot the puck home right past Kings goalie Cal Petersen to give the Golden Knights their first lead of the game. The Kings have had some good chances late on a power play in the period but could not capitalize it, they have also had some decent breakout opportunities halfway through the period as well. The Kings look to tie the game back up in the 2nd period. End of the first period as the Knights lead the Kings 3-2.

2nd Period Analysis: The Kings early on take a penalty as Mikey Anderson gets called for Tripping along the boards. Trevor Moore got a good breakaway and made a drop pass to Jeff Carter but a Vegas defenseman got in the way with some good back checking so Carter could not get a decent shot on the breakaway. The Golden Knights couldn’t not execute on the powerplay. The Kings get a power play after Vegas had a good attack in front of the net. The Kings have also not won faceoffs cleanly as well. The Golden Knights get a odd man rush as Ryan Reeves jumped out of the penalty box to create the odd man rush. Trevor Moore passed the puck from behind the net as he found Jaret Anderson-Dolan in front of the net, and he fired home on one knee, his first career NHL goal. After the goal was scored the Kings had tons of momentum and zone time in the Vegas end of the ice, Vegas created back to back turnovers which allowed the Kings to get some more time in the offensive and neutral zone. The Kings have continued to get good chances on net throughout the period, Vegas has had a little bit more zone time and decent chances on net as well. Vegas continued to get more zone time towards the end of the period. Both teams head into the second period tied up at 3-3. 


2nd Period Goals: LA KINGS GOAL SCORED BY NUMBER 28 JARET ANDERSON-DOLAN, the goal was his first career NHL goal. ASSISTED BY NUMBER 12 TREVOR MOORE and NUMBER 27 AUSTIN WAGNER. Time of the goal 8:53.

Vegas Golden Knights penalty to number 75 Ryan Reaves a 2 minute minor Cross Checking, time of the penalty 5:45. LA Kings penalty to 91 Carl Grundstrom a 2 minute minor for Dealy Of Game (puck over glass). Time of the penalty 19:59.

3rd Period Analysis: Vegas gets a great rush of speed down the left wing and Chandler Stephenson passed the puck into the net as it took a deflection through Cal Peterson’s pads to give the Knights a 4-3 lead. The Kings have played some good defense along the boards, but Vegas has gained some more pressure and had good zone entries with speed into the offensive zone. Gabriel Vilardi gets tripped by Nichols Hauge and the Kings get a their second power play of the game. The Kings had two good chances on the power play as they jammed at the net but could not get a goal. The Kings have made some turnovers in their own zone but Cal Petersen has bailed them out to keep them in the game. The Kings get a power play with four minutes remaining in regulation. The Kings fall to the Golden Knights 4-3 and lose the two game series between the two clubs.
