Pregame notes: Both Team USA and Team Canada lead the tournament in all offensive stats. With Tonight’s game for Team USA, they have won a medal in the past 6 years of the tournament.  


1st Period analysis: Both teams were getting some decent chances on net. Team USA have been checking more than the past few games. Both teams are dumping and chasing the puck into the offensive zone, as well as the attacking chances being even. Team Canada midway through the period gained more zone time and offensive pressure. Team USA got the first goal of the game as Alex Turcotte tipped a shot in to give them an advantage early on. Team USA put on the pressure and gained momentum after the goal was scored. Team USA took another bad penalty late in the period. Team Canada kept the puck in the zone for almost the whole powerplay, but Team USA killed it off as a few players blocked shots from the top slot. Team USA goaltender Spencer Knight has made some great saves in the opening period. 


1st Period Goals: Team USA goal scored by number 15 Alex Turcotte, the goal was his (1st of the game and 3rd of the Tournament).Time of the goal 13:25. 


1st Period Penalties: Team USA penalty to number 24 Bobby Brink a 2 minute minor for Tripping. Time of the penalty 16:38. 


2nd Period analysis: Team USA scored only 32 seconds into the period to give the Americans a 2-0 lead. Team USA kept the pressure in the offensive zone. Team USA has been playing with tons of speed to start the period and have had great chances as well. Team Canada gained some momentum back but could not find the back of the net on those opportunities. Spencer Knight has continued to play well throughout the period. Team USA get their first powerplay of the game about halfway through the period. Team USA forward Arthur Kaliyev fired a couple shots onto the Team Canada goaltender Devon Levi. Team Canada had a great chance on net short handed, but was denied by Spencer Knight as Team USA continued to hold the 2-0 advantage. Team USA has played great defense throughout the period. Team Canada has kept the puck in the offensive zone as they have had multiple great chances on net. Arthur Kaliyev has had great chances for Team USA this period. Despite Team Canada having tons of chances and Team USA getting the goal early in the period, both teams have not played their best hockey in this 2nd period.


2nd Period Goals: Team USA goal scored by number 9 Trevor Zegras, the goal was his (1st of the game and 5th of the tournament). Time of the goal 32 seconds.  


2nd Period Penalties: Team Canada penalty to number 12 Jakob Pelletier a 2 minute minor for Hooking. Time of the penalty 10:03


3rd Period analysis: Team USA has been playing good defense even though Team Canada has been getting shots on target to get a goal in this game. Team Canada’s chances were blocked as Team USA has been getting in the way of the shots. Team Canada hit the post midway through the period and almost scored on what was their best chance of the game. Team USA had a great chance to make it 3-0 as Cole Caufield ripped one on net. Team Canada has had great net front scrambles but could still not get one past Spencer Knight. Team Canada has outshot the US throughout the game. Spencer Knight continued to dominate in the net and helped Team USA capture another Gold Medal!
