2020-21 Regular Season Game 4 Colorado Avalanche Vs Los Angeles Kings

1st Period analysis: The Kings come out flying to start the game as the Kings get some chances early on in the offensive zone. The Kings get a power play in the first five minutes into the game and had good chances from the top and deflected some shots on net. The Kings did not score on the first powerplay. Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon made a nice move into the offensive zone took a shot and Jonathan Quick let up a rebound which Colorado scored off the rebound. The Kings have entered the offensive zone well and have had decent chances. Both teams midway through the first period have gotten good shots on goal. The Kings take a penalty and mange to kill it off, and right as the penalty expired the Kings go right back on the power play. Jonathan Quick has made some great saves on the Avalanche breakout chances. The Kings could not cash in on their second power play attempt of the game. Colorado bombarded the Kings with pressure but the Kings managed to hold off the onslaught of Avalanche offensive attacks. Jonathan Quick makes a great glove save on Nazem Kadri to deny him a goal scoring opportunity. The Kings fourth line has been really good on the forecheck. The Kings take another penalty late in the period. The Kings give up a goal late in the period and trail 2-0 heading into period number two.

2nd Period analysis: Jonathan Quick starts off the period with some great saves on the Avalanche to start the period. The Kings get a powerplay early on as this is their third powerplay of the game. The powerplay turned into a 5 on 3 and the Kings fired one home to make it a 2-1 game and the Kings still have an extra man for a minute left. Jonathan Quick continues to make great saves to keep the Kings in the game. Another penalty is taken by the Kings. Colorsdo has had a lot of zone time in this period. The Kings have had some good chances on net midway through the period. The Kings get a powerplay late and Gabe Vilardi snipes one top shelf to tie the game at 2-2. The Kings have momentum heading into the 3rd period.

3rd Period analysis: The Kings started to use the body and lay some clean good checks. The Kings take another penalty early in the period. The Kings do a great job on the penalty kill as they did not allow the Avalanche to get a shot on goal during that powerplay attempt. Both teams have had great shots on target and both teams have had about the same amount of zone time midway though the period. The Kings denied the Avalanche from entering the offensive zone cleanly. The Kings have had some good shots on net towards the end of regulation. The Kings have a great breakout and Anze Kopitar skated down the left wing, made a nice half spin pass to Adrian Kempe who tapped home the puck to give the Kings a 3-2 lead. The Kings scored a empty net goal to make it a 4-2 game and to get the team’s first win of the season.
