2020-21 Regular Season Game 1 Minnesota Wild Vs Los Angeles Kings

1st Period analysis: Early on to start the game the Kings get a powerplay, both teams are feeling each other out as well to start too. The Kings have been getting some good chances in the offensive zone and having good zone time. The Kings have been playing good defense in their own zone and have made some good outlet passes. The Kings have fired some good chances on net from the top and deflecting those shots on the net. The Kings have also had some good net front present chances too. The Kings are entering the zone with lots of speed and have contained to get shots on net, and offensive zone time. Minnesota has had some decent chances on net but Jonathan Quick has kept the door shut so far throughout the period the Wild have got chances in transition. The Wild have a good rush down into the Kings end of the ice and ripped home the first goal of the game. Jeff Carter stabbed home a goal with 1 second remaining in the period to tie the game. The Kings played a good first period of play and now have momentum heading into the 2nd period.

2nd Period analysis: Minnesota came out and got some good zone time in the Kings zone which tired out the Kings defense. The Kings took two bad penalties early on in the period and managed to kill off one, while the other penalty was offset as a Minnesota player crashed into Kings goalie Jonathan Quick which made both teams play 4 on 4 for a short time Both teams have had good chances on goal. Jeff Carter had a burst of speed down the ice, and fired a shot and Andreas Anthanasiou tapped home the rebound for his first goal as a King. Minnesota has had good shots on the power play after one of the Kings penalties expired but could not find the back of the net on those opportunities. The Kings have taken a lot of penalties this period but have done a good job of killing them off. Jonathan Quick has made some incredible saves when the Kings were on the penalty kill. The Wild have had most of the zone time this period. The Kings got their second power play of the game and Adrian Kempe capitalized on the power play for the first time this year. The Kings special teams did a great job this period killing of the five penalties they took, along with the goal that was scored.

3rd Period analysis: Minnesota again started out the period with some good zone time. Minnesota has had some shots from the the slot and scored to cut the Kings lead in half. The Kings got another powerplay early on in the period. The pace in the period has slowed down as both teams have not had fast breakouts into the offensive zones. Minnesota fired a shot on target and scored to tie the game at three. The Kings started to play on their heels since the Wild scored the third goal. Minnesota has gained more zone time throughout the period. The Kings have put the pressure in the offensive zone as the top line for the Kings played for over a minute of time on ice. The Kings took a penalty in the final minute of regulation. The game will head to Overtime.
