2023-24 Regular Season Game 44 San Jose Sharks Vs LA Kings

1st Period Analysis: Both teams had lots of chances early on in the period but either team was unable to find the back of the net. Towards the end of the period the Kings had a lot of chances on goal and had some good looks on net. The Kings had the first powerplay of the game late in the period but could not score. The Kings continued to apply the pressure in the offensive zone within the final minute of the period. Both teams headed into the first period intermission deadlocked at 0-0.

1st Period Goals: None

1st Period Penalties: Sharks penalty to number 10 Anthony Duclair 2 minute minor for Tripping at 15:14.

2nd Period Analysis: The Sharks early on in the period had a lot of chances in the offensive zone but still couldn't find the net. Quinton Byfield had a deflection in front of the net for the Kings on a two on one rush but could not score. The Kings managed to get more chances on net in the first five minutes of the period. The Sharks scored the first goal of the game off of a delayed penalty call on the Kings. The Kings penalty will not be called. Moments later the Sharks scored again to make it a 2-0 game. The Kings took their first penalty of the game midway through the period. The Kings got a goal late in the period to cut the Sharks lead in half. The Kings got a powerplay late in the period. The Kings head into the second intermission down a goal.

3rd Period Analysis: The Kings tied the game up as Quinton Byfield scored to make it a 2-2 game. The Kings continued the pressure in the offensive zone. The Sharks halfway through the period scored to regain the lead. Both teams had good looks with under 10 minutes to play left in regulation. The Kings got a powerplay late in the period and the Kings tied it off of a rocket of a shot from Drew Doughty to tie the game at 3-3. The game was tied so the game went to overtime

OT Period Analysis: The Kings had a great chance early on but couldn't put it home as Kevin Fiala made a nice mover right in front of the net. Both teams traded chances towards the end of overtime but couldn't score so the game went to a shootout.
