2023-24 Regular Season Game 38 LA Kings At Florida Panthers

1st Period Analysis: Early on in the period Kings forward Alex Laferire had a breakaway but Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky made a great save to deny Laferriere. The Kings were able to get some good looks in the offensive zone within the first five minutes but couldn’t find a way to put the puck in the back of the net early on. The Kings defense was solid as they were playing to puck and getting into the passing lanes and breaking up scoring chances for the Panthers. Florida had a great chance down low but the Kings defense made a great stop. The Kings counter attacked on the offensive and Trevor Moore jammed home the puck to make it a 1-0 game. The Kings continued to apply more pressure in the offensive zone. The Kings caught a break after Panthers forward Sam Reinhart walked in on a breakaway but just missed the net and went up into the protective netting after a blocker save from Cam Talbot. Towards the halfway mark both teams were trading chances on net. The Kings took a penalty late into the period but were able to kill off the penalty and head into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead.

1st Period Penalties: Kings penalty to number 80 Pierre-Luc Dubios 2 minute minor for Roughing 

2nd Period Analysis: The Panthers had a lot of momentum to start the 2nd period and midway through the period they tied the game at 1-1 on the powerplay. The Kings had a couple chances midway through the period but could not find a way to find the back of the net. Both teams traded chances late but both teams were tied heading into the second intermission.

2nd Period Goals: Panthers goal scored by number 9 Sam Bennet (1st of the game and 3rd of the season), assisted by number 72 Eteeu Loustraninen, and number 91 Oliver Ekman-Larsson. 3rd Period Analysis: The Panthers had some good looks early on in their period but the Kings stood tall and were able to play good defense. The Kings were playing a very defensive game in the period and had good puck movement in the offensive zone. The Panthers continued to get chances but Cam Talbot made some great saves to keep the lead. With under three minutes left in the period the Panthers tied the game and regulation ended in a tie so it was on to overtime to decide the winner.

OT Period Analysis: The Kings took a penalty late in the period and the Panthers scored with no time left to win the game by a score of 3-2.
