1st Period analysis: Early on to start the game the Kings get a powerplay, both teams are feeling each other out as well to start too. The Kings have been getting some good chances in the offensive zone and having good zone time. The Kings have been playing good defense in their own zone and have made some good outlet passes. The Kings have fired some good chances on net from the top and deflecting those shots on the net. The Kings have also had some good net front present chances too. The Kings are entering the zone with lots of speed and have contained to get shots on net, and offensive zone time. Minnesota has had some decent chances on net but Jonathan Quick has kept the door shut so far throughout the period the Wild have got chances in transition. The Wild have a good rush down into the Kings end of the ice and ripped home the first goal of the game. Jeff Carter stabbed home a goal with 1 second remaining in the period to tie the game. The Kings played a good first period of play and now have momentum heading into the 2nd period.

2nd Period analysis: Minnesota came out and got some good zone time in the Kings zone which tired out the Kings defense. The Kings took two bad penalties early on in the period and managed to kill off one, while the other penalty was offset as a Minnesota player crashed into Kings goalie Jonathan Quick which made both teams play 4 on 4 for a short time Both teams have had good chances on goal. Jeff Carter had a burst of speed down the ice, and fired a shot and Andreas Anthanasiou tapped home the rebound for his first goal as a King. Minnesota has had good shots on the power play after one of the Kings penalties expired but could not find the back of the net on those opportunities. The Kings have taken a lot of penalties this period but have done a good job of killing them off. Jonathan Quick has made some incredible saves when the Kings were on the penalty kill. The Wild have had most of the zone time this period. The Kings got their second power play of the game and Adrian Kempe capitalized on the power play for the first time this year. The Kings special teams did a great job this period killing of the five penalties they took, along with the goal that was scored.

3rd Period analysis: Minnesota again started out the period with some good zone time. Minnesota has had some shots from the the slot and scored to cut the Kings lead in half. The Kings got another powerplay early on in the period. The pace in the period has slowed down as both teams have not had fast breakouts into the offensive zones. Minnesota fired a shot on target and scored to tie the game at three. The Kings started to play on their heels since the Wild scored the third goal. Minnesota has gained more zone time throughout the period. The Kings have put the pressure in the offensive zone as the top line for the Kings played for over a minute of time on ice. The Kings took a penalty in the final minute of regulation. The game will head to Overtime.

Pregame notes: Both Team USA and Team Canada lead the tournament in all offensive stats. With Tonight’s game for Team USA, they have won a medal in the past 6 years of the tournament.  

1st Period analysis: Both teams were getting some decent chances on net. Team USA have been checking more than the past few games. Both teams are dumping and chasing the puck into the offensive zone, as well as the attacking chances being even. Team Canada midway through the period gained more zone time and offensive pressure. Team USA got the first goal of the game as Alex Turcotte tipped a shot in to give them an advantage early on. Team USA put on the pressure and gained momentum after the goal was scored. Team USA took another bad penalty late in the period. Team Canada kept the puck in the zone for almost the whole powerplay, but Team USA killed it off as a few players blocked shots from the top slot. Team USA goaltender Spencer Knight has made some great saves in the opening period.

2nd Period analysis: Team USA scored only 32 seconds into the period to give the Americans a 2-0 lead. Team USA kept the pressure in the offensive zone. Team USA has been playing with tons of speed to start the period and have had great chances as well. Team Canada gained some momentum back but could not find the back of the net on those opportunities. Spencer Knight has continued to play well throughout the period. Team USA get their first powerplay of the game about halfway through the period. Team USA forward Arthur Kaliyev fired a couple shots onto the Team Canada goaltender Devon Levi. Team Canada had a great chance on net short handed, but was denied by Spencer Knight as Team USA continued to hold the 2-0 advantage. Team USA has played great defense throughout the period. Team Canada has kept the puck in the offensive zone as they have had multiple great chances on net. Arthur Kaliyev has had great chances for Team USA this period. Despite Team Canada having tons of chances and Team USA getting the goal early in the period, both teams have not played their best hockey in this 2nd period.

2nd Period Goals: Team USA goal scored by number 9 Trevor Zegras, the goal was his (1st of the game and 5th of the tournament). Time of the goal 32 seconds.  

2nd Period Penalties: Team Canada penalty to number 12 Jakob Pelletier a 2 minute minor for Hooking. Time of the penalty 10:03

3rd Period analysis: Team USA has been playing good defense even though Team Canada has been getting shots on target to get a goal in this game. Team Canada’s chances were blocked as Team USA has been getting in the way of the shots. Team Canada hit the post midway through the period and almost scored on what was their best chance of the game. Team USA had a great chance to make it 3-0 as Cole Caufield ripped one on net. Team Canada has had great net front scrambles but could still not get one past Spencer Knight. Team Canada has outshot the US throughout the game. Spencer Knight continued to dominate in the net and helped Team USA capture another Gold Medal!

Pregame Notes: Team Finland is undefeated throughout the tournament this year. Both Team USA and Team Finland have the best power plays in the tournament. 

1st Period analysis: Both teams played good throughout the 1st period of play. Team USA had good puck possession throughout the period and kept the pressure in the offensive zone. Team Finland capitalized on one of two power play opportunities in the period. Towards the end of the period Team USA let Team Finland have more time in their zone which led to Team Finland tying the game. Team USA also took bad penalties late in the period as well.

2nd Period analysis: Team Finland continued to add more pressure into the offensive zone, they managed to get pucks deep into the corner. Team USA has gotten some shots early and a chance from long stretch pass but Team Finland has maintained the puck into the zone throughout the period. Team USA got some pucks on net and put pressure into the offensive zone with shots from the slot and rebounds, but nothing has found the back of the net since the first period. Finland managed to keep the puck in the zone through the rest of the period and get more shots on target. Alex Turcotte and have Trevor Zegras had some good chances in the period as well. Team USA took a penalty 11 minutes in which lead to Team Finland getting tons of chances but couldn’t not score. Team USA scored on a breakaway as John Farinacci ripped the puck top shelf to give Team USA late in the period. Cole Caufield set up a sick pass on the power play to Matthew Boldy who tipped on his backhand to give Team USA a two goal advantage. After Team USA scored they swarmed the net and pressured Team Finland in the final minutes of the period. 

2nd Period Goals: Team USA goal scored by number 21 John Farinacci, the goal was his (1st of the game and 5th of the tournament). Time of the goal 15:53, Team USA goal scored by number 12 Matthew Boldy the goal was his (1st of the game and 3rd of the tournament). Time of the goal 17:00.

3rd Period analysis: Team Finland put pressure in the Team USA zone early and get some chances on goal. Team USA kept the puck into the offensive zone to try and kill the game off but with eight minutes left Team Finland got a goal back to keep the game within one. Towards the end of the game Finland continued the pressure and made some good passing plays, Team USA played good defense and kept Team Finland in their own zone and Team USA goaltender Spencer Knight made some decent saves to keep Team USA in the game with the one goal lead. towards the final minutes of the period. Team USA took a penalty late in the game and Team Finland capitalized to tie the game. Team USA buried a goal with 1:06 to go in regulation to GIVE TEAM USA THE LEAD! That goal was the game winning goal and Team USA will face rivals Team Canada in the gold medal game!
