2018-19 Regular Season Game 45 Ottawa Senators Vs LA Kings

Good Evening Kings Fans! Tonight is the final meeting this season between the Sens and Kings, both teams are sitting in the bottom of the NHL standings. The Kings come into tonight’s game with a two day break after a 3-1 loss to divisional rival the San Jose Sharks in San Jose. While the Senators played the Anaheim Ducks last night as they beat the Ducks 2-1 in overtime. If the Kings want to have success in the near future the team should start trading players for draft picks.

1st period analysis

The Kings are getting good chances in the Senators zone. Alec Martinez had a nice shot block early on. The Senators had a nice passing play which led to a nice save from Jonathan Quick, but Drew Doughty got a penalty for Holding even Brady Tkachuk tackled Drew. Jake Muzzin levels Senators forward Colin White along the broads as it was a good clean hit. Carl Hagelin made a nice play as he used his body to poke the puck away from a Senator player and feed the puck to Jeff Carter had a breakaway but could not find the back of the net as he hits the post. Jonathan Quick making some good saves late in the period. Kings get a powerplay late in the period. The Kings powerplay once again has failed them as the team can not convert on it. Kings get a good shot from the slot as it’s tipped by Brendan Leipsic and Austin Wagner gets a rebound but could not score. The Kings get another powerplay late in the period. Good hard shot from the slot by Jake Muzzin but the puck hit Brendan Leipsic in the head and out of play. The Kings Go 0 for 2 on the powerplay in the period.

2nd period analysis

Kings get a goal early in the period of a deflection from Kyle Clifford. The Kings are putting constant pressure in the Senators zone as Jeff Carter had a good shot on goal but put it just wide. Ottawa were passing the puck well in the King's zone and screening Jonathan Quick but could not find the net. The Kings are doing a great job on defense, as Alec Martinez has been blocking shots a lot tonight. The Kings are also getting lots of shots in this period. Drew Doughty making a great play on defenseman as he gets the angle and makes a good contact to cut off the Ottawa breakaway. The Kings take a penalty late in the period and give up a powerplay goal. The Senators get another goal to take the lead.

At 1:22 in the 3rd period the Senators made it 3-1. The goal was scored by 86 Christian Wolanin, the goal was his (1st of the game and 2nd of the season). Then at 19:52 the Senators make it 4-1. The goal was scored by number 71 Chris Tierney, the goal was his (2nd of the game and 6th of the season).

3rd period analysis

The Kings give up another goal as it is 3-1. The Kings get some good shots but still couldn’t not but it in the net. The Kings are dumping and chasing the puck but they can not get anything going. Kings are continuing to fire shots on net.
