LA Kings 2024-25 Regular Season Game 6 At Anaheim Ducks

 The LA Kings continued it’s a long road trip to open up the 2024-25 regular season, as they head down to Anaheim as they take on the Anaheim Ducks in the first Freeway Faceoff of the season. 

The Kings headed into tonight’s matchup off of a 4-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens and the Ducks are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to the Colorado Avalanche.

The first period did not see much action as it was a low shooting affair despite the Kings taking a total of  two penalties late in the period.

The second period had a little more action to it as there were not a lot of shots early on, but the Kings got two power plays but were unable to capitalize on it and went scoreless through two periods.

The Kings broke through in the third as Anze Kopitar  made a stretch pass to Adrian Kempe who buried a shot that beat Ducks goaltender Lukas Dostal short side on a breakaway. 

The Kings doubled its lead as Alex Lafferire stoke the puck Ducks forward Jackson LaConbe and ripped home a shot right past Lukas Dostal to make it a 2-0 game. 

The Ducks cut the Kings lead in half with a 1:44 left in the period as Ducks forward Ryan Strome tipped the puck past Kings goalie David Rittich.

The Kings scored a pair of empty net goals to make it 4-1 as Kevin Fiala scored the first and Mikey Anderson grabbed the second one.

The Kings next game will be the final game of the road trip as the team heads out to Las Vegas as they will face the Vegas Golden Knights.

LA Kings 2024-25 Regular Season Recap Game 1 Vs Buffalo Sabres

The 2024-25 LA Kings regular season began with the team facing off against the Buffalo sabers for the first game of the season.

The first period was a tightly contested contest between both goalies. Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper made an amazing save to rob Sabres forward, Ryan McCloud who tried a wraparound opportunity. With one second remaining in the first period the Sabres thought they had a goal, but it was called off due to the puck going into the net after the period horn sounded.

Throughout the 2nd period, The Sabres had more offensive zone time than the Kings. With about three minutes left in the. Sabres forward Alex Tuch fired a shot Past Darcy Kuemper to give the Sabres a 1-0 lead. The Kings could not really do anything in the period as the team could not clear the puck out of their own end most of the time.

The Kings scored 13 seconds into the period to tie the game up at 1-1, as Anze Kopitar sniped a shot off a great pass from Alex Lafferire

Kopitar grabbed his 2nd goal of the with just under two minutes left in regulation as he fired home the Kings first power play goal of the season and giving the Kings a 2-1 lead. 56 seconds after he got his second of the game Kopitar tallied an empty net goal to grab a hat trick and was his 19th career hat trick.

The Kings start of the 2024-25 NHL season with a comeback win and look to continue the success on the eight game opening road trip.
