Kings 2019 NHL Draft Selections

Hello Hockey Fans! The 2019 NHL Draft finished up this past weekend on June 21-22 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Kings drafted 6 out of the 7 rounds but got some really goods players with the picks

First up the Kings drafted in the 1st round at number 5 and selected forward Alex Turcotte. Turcotte a Center who has been playing for the United States National Development Program has a great shot ability and is a Two Way Center. Alex is the son of former NHLer Alfie Turcotte. Alex is 5”11 and shoots left. He does not seem to have any weakness when he plays and has some fantastic speed when he skates. Turcotte also has good puck vision and good puck movement.

The Kings had two picks in the 2nd Round. The first pick was Arthur Kaliyev. Kaliyev was born in Uzbekistan but grew up in Staten Island, New York. Kaliyev is playing for the Hamilton Bulldogs of the OHL. Kaliyev has a cannon of a shot as he scored 50 goals this season. The second pick was Samuel Fagemo a Left Wing from Sweden. Fagemo won Gold with team Sweden at the Under 17s in 2016. He can skate well and he is also a skilled player too. Fagemo models his game after Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin which is good news for Kings fans due to Seguin’s game. Here is a quote from Sweden’s U20 coach Tomas Monten about Fagemo “I like his attitude and attack mentality. He skates well and drives the net. He wants to play on the inside. He has a good shot. I think the biggest difference on Samuel this year is that he’s better conditioned. He’s faster and stronger. That made a big difference to his game.”

In the 3rd Round the Kings selected Goalie Lukáš Pařík. He is from the Czech Republic, his style of play is a athletic goalie but he plays with a modern style to his game. Pařík can move well and go post to post quickly.

The Kings had two selections in the 4th Round. The first selection was Jordan Spence. Spence is a right shot defenseman, he was born in Australia but grew up in Japan before moving to P.E.I in Canada to play for the Moncton Wildcats. He is good on the power play and has lots of poise and vision with the puck on his stick. He said in a interview with LA KingsInsider that he models his game after Torey Krug because he likes the way Krug plays. The Kings second selection in the round was Kim Nousiainen a left shot defenseman from Finland. Nousiainen has a high hockey IQ and is a extremely good skater as he can get up and down the ice in a hurry. Despite lacking strength and skill he makes up for it with his speed.

The Kings 6th Round selection was Defenseman Braden Doyle. Doyle is a left shot defenseman he was part of the United States High School All American Team last year.  He shows great work with the puck and defends rushes well with his good stick work and can poke check the puck from a distance.

The final selection for the Kings in the draft was Andre Lee. Lee is from Sweden but played his first season on the North American ice surface this past season with Sioux Falls Stampede. He will attend college and the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. There was not much to report on for Lee since he has only played one season and will attend college in the fall.

So those are the Kings draft picks for 2019 let me know what you think by leaving a comment down below.

Kings Potential Draft Picks 2019

Hello Kings Fans, here are all of the potential prospects your Kings can draft for the 2019 NHL Draft. The first three players on the list all play for the United States National Team Development Program. First up is Alex Turcotte. Turcotte is a 5'11 Center, he scored 27 goals for the United States Development Program. The next player is Cole Caufield, Caufield is a 5'7 Right Wing he is slated to be in the top 5 for the draft. He posted 72 goals for the Development program. He said that he models his game after Chicago Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat. Caufield has a natural scoring ability that could help out the Kings if he is picked by them. The final player from the USNTDP is Trevor Zegras. Zegras is a 6'0 Center/Left Wing, he racked up 26 goals and 61 assists for the national team. His skating isn't the best but he can fire passes on to sticks while making a spin move, as well as knock the puck off opposing players sticks and has a good backhand shot.

The next player on the list is 17 year old Kirby Dach. Dach is a 6’4 Center and plays for the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades, he posted 25 goals and 48 points this past season. Like Caufield, Dach has the ability to shoot the puck, Dach’s top trait is his playmaking ability which could really help the Kings as he would fit in well with the teams system.

The final player on the potential players list is Bowen Byram. Bowen is a 6'0 Defenseman and plays for the WHL's Vancouver Giants. This past season Byram posted a total of 26 goals and 45 assists. He is slated to be in the top 3-5 in the draft. An article from the Denver Post said that Byram's skating, puck movement and management is insane, and is a gritty player.

Who will the Kings puck in the draft? Find out on June 21st for the First Round live on NBCSN and Sportsnet at 4PM PST/7PM EST.
