LA Kings NHL Draft 2020 Night 2

 Good Evening Hockey Fans! Today your LA Kings will have10 picks in rounds 2-7 in the 2020 NHL Draft. 

The Kings have three picks in the 2nd Round. 

With the Kings first pick (pick 6) the Kings select from the Malmo RedHawks of the Swedish Elite League defenseman Helge Grans. Grans is 6’2  and split time with the Malmo Red Hawks and the under 20 Malmo Red Hawks team as well. He recorded a total of 3 points with the top team and recorded 27 points with the minor club. The Kings traded the Detroit Red Wings for this pick. He will be playing NCAA hockey next year at the University Of Minnesota. 

With the Kings second pick (pick 45) the Kings select from the United States National Team Development Program defenseman Brock Faber.

The Kings traded their third pick (pick 60) to the New York Rangers for forward Lias Andersson. 

The Kings have two picks in the 3rd Round. 

With the Kings first pick (pick 66) the Kings select from Tappara of the Finish Elite League forward Kasper Simontaival. He played for Tappara Jr as he posted 45 points for the club along with playing four games for the major league club Tappara. 

With the Kings second pick (pick 86) the Kings select from the United States Hockey Leauge’s Des Moines Buccaneers forward Alex Laferriere. Laferriere posted 45 points last season.

The Kings have one pick in the 4th round.

With the pick (pick 112) the Kings select from the Finish Elite League second division goalie Juho Markkanen.

The Kings have one pick in the 5th round.

With the pick (pick 128) the Kings select from the OHLs Kingston Frontenacs forward Martin Chromiak.

The Kings have one pick in the 6th Round.

With the pick (pick 140) the Kings select from the United States Hockey League’s Cedar Rapids Roughriders Ben Meehan. Meehan will be playing in the NCAA next year for the UMass Lowell

LA Kings 2020 NHL Draft Night 1

 Good Evening hockey fans! Welcome to the 2020 NHK Draft. Your LA Kings will have the 2nd pick in Round 1 tonight and more picks tomorrow. 

With the 2nd overall pick your LA Kings select from the Sudbury Wolves Quinten Byfield. Byfield has elite skill and a great shot that can help out the Kings on the powerplay and also help out the team for scoring opportunities. Byfield also has a great hockey IQ as well. 

LA Kings Acquire Defenseman Olli Maatta From Chicago

Your LA Kings acquired defenseman Olli Maatta from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for ECHL forward Brad Morrison. Maatta will be a great addition for this Kings team as he is a very well rounded defenseman, he will probably be playing on the third defense pairing. The Kings will have Maatta for two seasons due to his contract he had with the Blackhawks. Maatta is a left shooting defenseman which is what the Kings have been looking to add this offseason. 

LA Kings 2020 NHL Draft Pick Potentials

Hello Hockey fans, your LA Kings will be picking 2nd overall in the NHL Draft for the first time since 2008. In the 2008 draft the Kings selected defenseman Drew Doughty who has became one of the Kings top franchise players. 

The question for the Kings is who to pick with the 2nd overall, Quinton Byfield or Tim Stützle With Byfield you get a player with great shooting skills and is also good in the faceoff dot as last season in the CHL, he posted a 51.9 face off percentage. Byfield also post 50 assists and 39 goals as well. 

Stützle is a all around talented forward, Stützle has great speed, hands and vision. He has been compared to Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane when it comes to how his play style is. Stützle has spent his junior career playing in the German Elite League. 

The Kings will also be picking 35th, 51st (pick acquired from the Kings trading Tyler Toffoli  to the Vancouver Canucks) and 60th (pick acquired for the Kings trading Alec Martinez to the Vegas Golden Knights) in the 2nd round.

The Kings will be picking 66th and 83rd (Pick acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets) in the 3rd round.

The Kings will pick 97th and 112th (pick acquired from the Calgary Flames when the Kings traded Oscar Fantenberg to the Flames in 2019) in the 4th round.

The Kings will pick 128th in the 5th round, 159th in the 6th, and 190 in the 7th. 

With these 11 picks the Kings will continue to rebuild their team to became a better and stronger team in the previous years, as well to build a solid young core in the minors.
