Kings Offseason Update July 2019

Hello Kings Fans during the month of Free Agency happing g across the league for the first week of the month the Kings did not go after the big stars on the market like Artemi Panarin Matt Duchene, and Joe Pavelski. The team instead decided on depth players by signing former San Jose Sharks defenseman Joakim Ryan, former Detroit Red Wings forward Martin Frk, and former Arizona Coyote  forward Mario Kempe.

Ryan only played 44 games with the Sharks last season and knotted seven assists and didn’t not score a goal throughout the season. As for Martin Frk he split his time with Detroit and the Red Wings AHL affiliate the Grand Rapids Griffins. Frk scored one goal and five assists in 30 games with Detroit, and scored five goals and nine assists with Grand Rapids. Both of these players will serve as defensive and forward depth for the Kings this upcoming season. At best we could see Joakim Ryan being a third defensive paring and Frk being placed on the fourth line this season. Both players signed one year deals with the club. Mario Kempe is the older brother to Kings forward Adrian Kempe. Mario signed a one year two way contract with the Kings, Kempe played 52 games with the desert dogs and scored six goals and tallied seven assists. He also played for the Coyotes AHL affiliate the Tucson Roadrunners this past season scoring five goals and potting six assists.

For the Kings players that were free agents they managed to sign six of twelve players that are UFA’s/RFA’s. Jonny Broadzinski signed with the San Jose Sharks, Brendan Leipsic signed with the Washington Capitals and Alex Lintunemi signed with the Carolina Hurricanes. The players the Kings signed were forwards Micheal Amadio, Alex Iafallo, Sheldon Rempal, Daniel Brickley, defenseman Matt Roy, and goalie Cal Petersen. Amadio, Iafallo, Brickley signed two year contracts, Rempal opted for a one year deal and Cal Petersen signed a three year deal but wanted the first year to be a two way contract and the last two to be a one way contract. Alex Iafallo will be getting $4.85 million over the next two years. The only remaining player to sign with the is forward Adrian Kempe.

prospects Samuel Fagemo and Tobias Bjönfort signed their three year entry level deals with the Kings.
