Kings 2019 Offseason Update May 2019

Hello Kings fans and welcome to the first 2019 Offseason update report. The have been trade rumors and a report from TSN.com saying that the Kings may trade for Toronto Maple Leafs forward Patrick Marleau. In order for this trade to happen the Kings would need to trade a player with good value and as well a player with big contract. In coaching staff news the Edmonton Oilers have parted ways with their assist coaches, both of the coaches Trent Yawney and Manny Vivieros have worked with Kings head coach Todd McLelian before when he was a coach with the Oilers. There have been rumors of these coaches ending up in LA for next season.

LA Kings Sign Anderson and Phillips To Entry Level Contracts

In these past few weeks of the early offseason the Kings gave two prospects Mikey Anderson and Markus Phillips to entry level contracts.

Mikey Anderson recently won back to back NCAA National Championships with the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs. Anderson is a left shot defenseman and posted a total of 11 goals in his first two seasons with the team. Anderson’s assists over the course of two seasons was a total of 39 assists. I think Anderson will help the Kings on defense since they need another good offensive defenseman after trading away Jake Muzzin.

Markus Phillips has played four season in the OHL (which is part of the Canadian Major Junior League or the CHL for short). Phillips played for the Owen Sound Attack and in the 2018-19 season was traded to the Guelph Storm. Over his major junior league time he has had 31 goals and 89 assists.
Phillips is as well a left shot Defenseman.
